Stronghold Crusader - Translation Kit
Stronghold Crusader - Translation Kit
The translation kit contains the following files -
crusader.txt - In-game text file
crusader_extreme_help.hlp - Stronghold Crusader Extreme help file
crusader_help.help - Stronghold Crusader help file
ff_tex_cru.exe - Text compiler tool. Compiles Crusader.txt into cr.tex
Stronghold Crusader.exe - To display Unicode text
Stronghold_Crusader_Extreme.exe - To display Unicode text
Instructions -
crusader.txt - The main in-game text file
The file is split into numbered sections which correspond to different parts of the game. The game reads the file in order so it is important that the structure of the translated file exactly matches the original English file, otherwise the translated text will appear in the wrong places in-game.
1. Translate the file
2. Place the translated crusader.txt file in the same folder as the ff_tex_cru.exe tool.
3. Run the ff_tex_cru.exe tool. A cr.tex file will be created. Place the cr.tex file in the root of the game folder.
crusader_help.hlp - The Stronghold Crusader help file
The help file uses markup language similar in concept to HTML to help format the file and link topics. It is important to leave all word within the < > tags untranslated. All file names e.g. walls.hlp or stairs_help.tgx should be left untranslated. If there is a word between 2 LINK tags e.g. <LINK "walls.hlp">walls<\LINK> then this should be translated.
1. Translate the file
2. Make a copy of crusader_help.hlp called crusader_extreme_help.hlp
3. Place the crusader_help.hlp and crusader_extreme_help.hlp files in the \help folder.
File locations -
The .hlp file default located here -
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stronghold Crusader Extreme\help
The .tex file default location is here -
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stronghold Crusader Extreme

Re: Stronghold Crusader - Translation Kit
Very nice! But could you also release the text files of languages of the game you have already translated it into? You did release this for Crusader before "Crusader Community Tools", excluding the unicode exe but including different languages.

Heya,
one quick question. Does this support Unicode? It would be extremely helpful if it did, since my language has quite a lot of uncommon glyphs. Thanks in advance!

Re: Stronghold Crusader - Translation Kit
Okay, I just tested it and it does not, in fact, support a lot of my language's nonstandard glyphs. For the record, my language is Slovak. I'm gonna write it all down here for a potential fix?
The characters that ARE supported: Á, á, Ä, ä, É, é, Í, í, Ó, ó, Ô, ô, Ú, ú
The characters that are NOT supported (with added Unicode number and name to help):
These characters are rendered, but without their diacritic marks:
U+010C --- Č --- Latin Capital Letter C with caron
U+010D --- č --- Latin Small Letter C with caron
U+010E --- Ď --- Latin Capital Letter D with caron
U+010F --- ď --- Latin Small Letter D with caron
U+0139 --- Ĺ --- Latin Capital Letter L with acute
U+013A --- ĺ --- Latin Small Letter L with acute
U+013D --- Ľ --- Latin Capital Letter L with caron
U+013E --- ľ --- Latin Small Letter L with caron
U+0147 --- Ň --- Latin Capital Letter N with caron
U+0148 --- ň --- Latin Small Letter N with caron
U+0154 --- Ŕ --- Latin Capital Letter R with acute
U+0155 --- ŕ --- Latin Small Letter R with acute
U+0164 --- Ť --- Latin Capital Letter T with caron
U+0165 --- ť --- Latin Small Letter T with caron
These characters are not rendered at all:
U+0160 --- Š --- Latin Capital Letter S with caron
U+0161 --- š --- Latin Small Letter S with caron
U+017D --- Ž --- Latin Capital Letter Z with caron
U+017E --- ž --- Latin Small Letter Z with caron
If you could fix that, it would be appreciated, if not, I can attempt to make my own fix, no worries.
